Nevada Sees The Launch Of Its First Legal Online Poker Site
Nevada will be leading the world in regard to legal internet gambling, where players will be able to enjoy playing games with real money. A Las Vegas-based company is set to launch an online poker site.
Expert Insights on Revenue Expectations
Ken Adams, a Reno gaming analyst, said there has been a lot of speculation on what will happen with online gambling. There have been estimates that revenues will bring in anything from $20 million—some say $30 million, some even estimate $2-3 billion. These theories have been going round for years. He said that now we are set to see what reality will bring.
Ultimate Poker: The Pioneer
Ultimate Poker, a subsidiary of the Station Casinos LLC based in Las Vegas, already operates 16 locally oriented casinos throughout Southern Nevada. They have touted themselves as the first provider that will have legal and secure online poker.
Other States in Pursuit
Other states such as Delaware and New Jersey are working towards full online gambling casino-style; however, they are still working out the regulatory as well as other routes towards operational status.
Legislative Green Light and Trial Launch
Nevada went ahead in February with their fast-tracked legislation that authorized online poker. Ultimate Poker will now set the pace for a 30-day trial in the field after they had received the final approval from the gambling regulators.
Leadership Perspectives
Tom Breitling, who is the chairman of Ultimate Poker, has said that it was a big deal being the first to go online with poker. He also mentioned that it was important for Nevada that they were the first state to go live.
Tobin Prior, the CEO, has added that they had a lot to learn; however, everyone is discussing this new development. People have been dealing poker at unregulated sites, but this is the first step towards a legitimate and proper environment.
Access Rules and Security Measures
Players will be able to play poker 24/7, but it must be noted that there are restrictions in place. Players have to be 21 and over and reside or physically be in the boundaries of the state to play. These two important rules—Mr. Breitling says that his company has all the sophisticated and complicated equipment to be able to police these aspects.
Betting and Funding Options
At this stage, there will only be poker that will be allowed to be played. Players can bet as little as one penny on their computers with personal accounts that can be funded using credit cards by MasterCard, wire transfers, checks, or in person at Station Casino.
